Core Objectives

Facilitating Intergovernmental Cooperation & Collaboration

 

Encouraging government efficiencies, permit streamlining, public/private partnerships. Building relations with elected officials, staff, regional organizations and community.

 

ACHIEVEMENT: Partnering with Congress Member Sam Farr and the Federal Aviation Administration to achieve “though the fence” access at the Hollister Airport, permitting access to the public landing area by independent contractors for aeronautical activities based on land adjacent to, but not a part of, airport property.

Supporting, Expanding and Enhancing the Community Job Base- Retention, expansion, job creation and growth of existing businesses + new business attraction

 

Working in collaboration with the public sector to institute policies, programs and actions that sustain and encourage investment in local residents, businesses and infrastructure.

Measure G Implementation- road and highway improvements, broadband, energy, education, housing, water & wastewater, tackling blight & litter

 

ACHIEVEMENTS: Teaming with San Benito County Board of Supervisors, City of Hollister, and community business leaders to restructure the Economic Development Corporation of San Benito County. Working with City of Hollister to lift the sewer building moratorium by supporting construction of new sewer/wastewater treatment plant ahead of schedule, under budget and managed by a private contractor.

 

 

Promoting Community Wellness & Sustainability

 

Engaging with community partners such as the Community Foundation for San Benito County, Central Coast YMCA, Rotary Club of Hollister, San Benito County Farm Bureau, San Benito County Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau on various initiatives.

 

ACHIEVEMENT: The Business Council is an active convener and the most effective, respected, and “common sense” voice for building a sustainable future in San Benito County.
